Writing this blog took much of my time, yet I enjoyed writing it. This blog is very close to my heart because it conveys my deepest thoughts and my dream. And my dream is getting to know the Universe. Learning about the Cosmos has been my ambition since my childhood.
This dream became clearer in front of my eyes when I got a professional telescope on my 13th birthday. The first celestial body which I saw from it was Earth's all time buddy- the Moon. It was so beautiful. It further influenced and inspired me. It left me with no doubt about my career; and more appropriately my ambition. I was amazed by the fact that the moon could shine so bright only by the light of the sun which is 149 million kms away! If it can shine with such small amount of light (actually, its quite large but considering the distance between sun and moon, and also looking at the fraction of sun's light that reaches the moon, its pretty small), then what can a small amount of optimism can do to a person? It can give hope. It also showed me the value of being happy with whatever I have with me. Because the Moon seems to be fine for not having its own light! As in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban it is said by Dumbledore- "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light." Even if one person is positive it can influence others. You might be thinking, why am I talking about optimism and why did I suddenly go from my ambition to positivity and hope? It is because, when a person has decided their future, hope is really important because sometimes they might meet failure; and hope and optimism is really important. Also, being down-to-earth is equally necessary. And by holding on to a thing that keeps you grounded and gives confidence, it will help a person a lot. And the moon is my "THING". You might also think that its weird; but, its just the way my mind works:-)
All these things was and is always taught to me by my parents. They always say to me that an individual should have zeal and should be cheerful. Negative thoughts never gives a positive life. Sometimes I never work hard for my ambition- that's true. Many times I have done some things which took my mind of my dream and distracted me. But with the help of my parents my path became clearer and sharp. I have not thanked them enough and will never be able to do so.
Now, back to- why do I want to know about the cosmos? Honestly, I don't remember why exactly and when did I even get interest in it in the first place. All I know is that I find the universe very fascinating. Its secrets of how it works, its laws, its truth- all this is very interesting for me. Like in the sitcom "Young Sheldon" it is stated that "Gravity is precisely as strong as it needs to be and if the ratio of the electromagnetic force to the strong force wasn't 1%, then life would not exist." Its this preciseness that puts me in awe. All of the forces and energies are in a perfect amount without which nothing would exist. This is really so damn mesmerizing! This is why I want to study and what I want to study. The cosmos is so beautiful and full of secrets. This unrevealing and unknown nature of the cosmos attracts me towards it; and without it, it wouldn't be of use to know about it.
So, now you know about my dream. I know for sure that you also have your dream. Your "thing". Never forget about it or leave it if your gut tells you that this is it.
Love,
Ashi P.
